Peace & Comfort in the UnknownFor some us, we are entering or quite possibly in the middle of the ‘unknown’ of what happens next… know that God is with you through whatever the ‘unknown’ looks like and you are being prayed for! A reflection from S… The boxes are here, meaning one thing we are on the move again. A new house, a new city, new friends, and the list goes on. Moving is ranked in the top 5 most stressful life events. And as a military family we get to experience this every couple of years. Two scriptures I like to hold onto during posting times are: “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 Both of these scriptures are promises to the Israelites during times of uncertainty. These are promises that are still true for us today. Even though all these unknowns are unknown to you and I. It is not unknown to God. He knows why we are posting to that new location (even if it’s not where you want to be). He has a plan, a plan for good. He does not just leave us on our own, He goes before us. A gift of posting is we get to see God’s fingerprints and provision throughout the process. In the goodbyes, in the readjusting and settling, we see and experience God’s goodness. We experience God’s peace and comfort as we lean into Him and His Word. We do not need to fear, we can trust. As we experience the emotions that come with postings I encourage you to go to your Heavenly Father. Who dearly loves and cherishes you His beloved daughter. He will hold you, as you hold to His Word. Some ways to do this is - writing scriptures out and memorising them; turning scripture into prayers or breath prayers. For example: Pray as you breath in “Lord you go before me’ Pray as you breath out “I do not need to fear, you are with me” These are handy for those nail biting moments when all is too much. As we uplift our needs he is faithful and provides. I have learned to be specific when praying, even with housing. Spaces required for our family and pets. And I have seen God provide. Sure at time not always in the way I have hoped but He always provides. There may still be storms and tears in the move, things not going to plan. But be encouraged you are not alone. I encourage you to stop and reflect on how you have seen God’s fingerprints in your life. Write them out so you can remember your heavenly Father’s faithfulness to you and be encouraged. Our Heavenly Father is trustworthy and He is with you, whether you are on the move or not this posting season. Keep your eyes on the Kingdom of Heaven. Shalom Sisters
